Stop putting teachers in a situation they are not trained or educated to handle, they have enough pressure dealing with the everyday demands of teaching in an already complex social environment. Let social workers, who are trained in this discipline, handle these issues. Why would Social Services be making demands on teachers who are under the Department of Education? If the government continues to put more demands on teachers outside of their teaching duties you are going to see a mass exodus from this profession, just like nurses. I know this because two of my children are teachers, who are already on the edge. They just want to be educators!

Leave the teaching to the teachers leave the investigations to investigators that have been trained and know what to do

As a psychologist who worked in public schools for 20+ years I was not allowed to question students about abuse; serious concerns had to be reported to Child and Family Services by the principal. I do not support placing teachers in positions of investigator of child abuse; it will not be helpful and will erode trust in teachers.
