I live in Ontario, but love your idea. Hope you succeed, then we can learn since we are facing the same crisis and challenge here. Thanks

our school system needs overhaul. we need more private dchools. Anything public means lower efficiency, more waste.

I think you are on the right track. I also think ALL taxpayer funded buildings should be used by the communities they serve 24/7 365. The gymnasium and kitchen should be rented out to groups like AA, NA, community associations. We should not be funding everyone to have their own facilities. Classrooms should never be empty. You can have night school, education upgrades, ESL for immigrants, lifelong learning, weekend flea markets, internet hubs for those who cannot afford it etc during the hours students are not there. I also support allowing the homeless in to shelter in the gym and use the washrooms/showers/kitchen for hot meals during extreme cold weather. (Of course there would be conditions!)

Using our community buildings would mitigate the need for transportation to access these services outside the community.

We can’t afford to be paying for so many different programs. It would be easier to ask the province for dollars if we can show that those dollars are meeting the needs of a broad spectrum of Albertans communities.

We need to coordinate the needs of the community with the available tax payer funded buildings.

And Yes, parents are the best people to decide how and where their children are educated, like definitely NOT at Oakville Trafalgar in Burlington!
