This is out of the scope of what teachers are trained for. While it is natural for an educator to have suspicions of abuse, it can’t be their responsibility. What repercussions might exist if they express there is abuse and they are wrong? Teachers are not detectives, they are specialists in learning.

Stop putting teachers in a situation they are not trained or educated to handle, they have enough pressure dealing with the everyday demands of teaching in an already complex social environment. Let social workers, who are trained in this discipline, handle these issues. Why would Social Services be making demands on teachers who are under the Department of Education? If the government continues to put more demands on teachers outside of their teaching duties you are going to see a mass exodus from this profession, just like nurses. I know this because two of my children are teachers, who are already on the edge. They just want to be educators!

Leave the teaching to the teachers leave the investigations to investigators that have been trained and know what to do
