I attended Louise Dean and graduated in 1980. The school was wonderful and supportive. Then and now, the students can only recieve the proper education and support at Louise Dean that they require.

The whole point is not to be mixed into the general population as the needs are not the same. You grow up beyond the rest of regular students. They have different goals at this time than you do.

At Louise Dean, with the help of the excellent staff and the community that happens there. It is a safe place to grow for mother and child. And if you are giving up for adoption then this is a very supportive community. Where we held up each other. Please do not move this school.

As a former CBE teacher who has known of Louise Dean’s impact with pregnant teens I can attest to their effectiveness, compassion, and humanity. This program is outstanding…and it should not be blended with the Jack James program, which is also extraordinary. Don’t make budget decisions on the backs of the the city’s most exceptional students!

I am a 2017 LDC alumni grad. If it was not for LDC I would not have graduated highschool with my diploma. Moving the school to Jack James is not a smart idea as it’s not a location that is known to be safe. There is no daycare on site effecting moms who breastfeed. Young moms mental health will be at risk with bullying and harassment. The only way to get to Jack is though malbrough train station what’s known for lots of violence and girls would have to wait 2-3 busses just to get on with their strollers. An alumni and myself have a petition as well going with over 2500 signatures as well as a go fund me started on Facebook in a page called Save LDC.

The current school holding LDC is not fixable. We have to come together to find a new building. Me and my fellow alumni have been contacting many organizations in hope we can get donation and more to help this school

It seems those on the Board , once again, have put a programme that serves the vulnerable, in this case young women, on the chopping block. They have a history of targeting those who’s voices don’t wield influence or votes.

This programme is valuable in so many ways, to advance the lives of these young women, without the guilt and shame they would likely face in a traditional school setting! We are all aware of how inadequate the schools are to prevent bullying, even in elementary situations, how are they going to ensure that these young women won’t be subjected to the same. This is a great programme to give these girls a step up and make the best of the circumstances they have found themselves in.

Will the Board take the higher ground or revert to the, “ old boys club”, mentality?
